Life Hack: Coconut Oil

Written by Jazz Rowland

Coconut oil is one of the most accessible and universal natural products on the market. Since it’s influx onto the shelves of every organic grocer we have seen it take off and become a remedy for many daily needs. Coconut oil isn’t just an awesome tool to cook with but it is also an amazing product to use for beauty purposes. Here are some of the best ways to use coconut oil that will help bring about positive change to your life!

#1: Exfoliating Scrub

Make your own by mixing 2 tablespoons of Epsom Salts and 3 tablespoons of coconut oil. Put it in a jar and use it as you wish.. you won’t be disappointed.

#2: Conditioner

Coconut oil can be used to hydrate your hair as a deep conditioner. I like to heat the oil, apply to my hair then wrap with plastic wrap. If I can manage it, I’ll leave it on all night and give it a thorough clean in the morning. It pays to clean it like a hairdresser – twice with shampoo and once with conditioner.

#3: Eye Make Up remover

Got a cotton tip? Great. Now all you need is coconut oil and you’ll have the best eye make-up remover on the market. Unlike the ones made with the help of alcohol, coconut oil won’t cause any damage to the delicate skin around your eyes.

#4: Moisturiser

From head to toe, coconut oil does the job. Just choose your time of application wisely. Depending on the timing, coconut oil can make yoga poses like the Eagle pose very interesting.

#5: Deodorant

Most friends look at me like my mother must have been a hippie (she totally was) when I reach for the coconut oil but I really do swear by it. Australia’s climate isn’t a girls best friend when it comes to day-to-day activities. A good reliable deodorant is a necessity. To top it off, by using coconut oil you miss out on all of the nasties that come with standard deodorants (just look at the ingredients).

#6: Lip Balm

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of lip balms on the market which have their benefits, like Lucas Pawpaw, but coconut oil is my only go-to balm. I’ve tried my fair share of lip-balms but the only balm that doesn’t leave my lips craving more in an addictive, dehydrating way is coconut oil.

#7: Sun Care

For both before and after, coconut oil can help prevent and heal sunburn.
