You understand that in order to access the HSM Health Coaching Service, you must be at least 18 years of age and be an Australian resident which for the purposes of using the HSM Health Coaching Service means that you must physically reside in Australia.
HSM Health Coaching Service
The HSM Health Coaching Service operates between the hours of 9am – 9pm Monday to Friday, and 9am – 4:30pm Saturday (AEST), except on public holidays in New South Wales.
You understand that the HSM Health Coaching Service will not be appropriate if:
- you are currently experiencing a crisis;
- you or someone you have care of (such as your child or parent) are at imminent risk of harm such that you must seek safety;
- you require immediate medical treatment to manage your current symptoms
In which case you should immediately contact a crisis service (e.g. an ambulance or the police by phoning 000).
In addition, the HSM Health Coaching Service is likely not to be appropriate unless you currently, or have in the past, struggled with changing your relationship with alcohol use.
When you participate in the HSM Health Coaching Assessment, your responses to the questions asked will be recorded in writing for screening assessment and service evaluation purposes, as well as for reference by HSM Health Coaches so that they can understand your reasons for seeking assistance.
You are likely to be provided with treatment recommendations based on the information that you provide. These are designed to provide you with relevant information, which you should supplement with your own attempts to learn about local services, so that you can make an informed choice about your options.
If you choose to engage with the HSM Health Coaching Service (including, but not limited to, the Interactive Topics), you will be encouraged to communicate online with a Health Coach with alcohol and other drug/mental health training; complete post-treatment ‘check-in’ assessments and service evaluation surveys.
You understand that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password that you choose and shall be responsible for all uses via your login, whether they were authorised or unauthorised by you. You agree to immediately inform HSM of any unauthorised use of your user account or password.
Confidentiality and Privacy of your Personal Information
You accept that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information that you download onto your computer or any other device that you use to access the HSM Health Coaching Service. It is also your responsibility to delete or keep safe messages, emails and any transcripts of online conversations that you download or print out.
You explicitly agree not to forward or copy email messages or other electronic communications from HSM Health Coaches to other persons, except in circumstances where this has been agreed in advance by your HSM Health Coach, and is done with the written consent of your HSM Health Coach. You may not copy and paste bits of text or use the HSM Health Coach advice out of context, or pass on the advice to a third party.
The HSM Health Coaching Service Privacy Statement below sets out in more detail how HSM collects, holds, uses and discloses your Personal Information and how you may access or amend your Personal Information collected by us.

When using the HSM Health Coaching Service, you are responsible for:
- maintaining confidentiality of communications (by not sharing your password and keeping your communications with us confidential);
- conducting your communications in a way that will maximise your ability to benefit from the services offered (e.g. not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol)
- answering the questions in as accurate a way as possible so that you can benefit from the results (e.g. not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol);
- giving your HSM Health Coach accurate, relevant and timely information in order for him/her to assist you; and
- completing weekly questionnaires, as well as the post-treatment assessment and three-month follow-up assessment
It is your right to withdraw from further participation in the HSM Health Coaching Service at any time.
HSM may (in our sole discretion and without prior notice to you) terminate your licence to access the HSM Health Coaching Service if:
(b) we believe the HSM Health Coaching Service is not appropriate for you.
Limitation of Liability
You agree that HSM is not liable for incorrect results provided by the Health Coaching Assessment or treatment recommendations, or for loss or damage suffered by you due to your use of the Health Coaching Assessment or receipt of treatment recommendations.
The HSM Health Coaching Service is not intended to be used for medical or psychological diagnosis or drug prescription or advice concerning which drugs or treatment may be appropriate for you. You acknowledge that the HSM Health Coaching Service does not provide medical or psychological advice regarding your suitability for undertaking any detoxification process. You must seek this advice from your medical practitioner. Any information the HSM Health Coaching Service provides in relation to detoxification is general in nature.
You agree, confirm and acknowledge that you are aware that the HSM Health Coaching Service is not a substitute for a face-to-face session by a registered health practitioner. You should never rely on or make health or well-being decisions purely based on use of the HSM Health Coaching Service. Never disregard, avoid, or delay obtaining medical or psychological advice from your registered health practitioner because of information or advice you receive through the HSM Health Coaching Service.
Hello Sunday Morning Health Coaching Service: Privacy Statement
Purpose of this policy
Hello Sunday Morning (ABN 82 145 512 125) (HSM) is an Australian based not for profit organisation. One of HSM’s services is the HSM Health Coaching Service which is an online alcohol behaviour change service which aims to assist individuals to change their relationship with alcohol. Participants in this service will have access to self-guided online materials (Interactive Topics) which they can follow to assist them in changing their relationship with alcohol. They will also have access to HSM’s Health Coaches, who are trained health professionals with experience in the area of drug and alcohol health counselling using evidence-based practices.
Important definitions which apply to this policy:
“Personal Information” is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information is true or not and whether the information is recorded in a material form or not.
“Health information” is (a) Personal Information or an opinion about: (i) the health or a disability (at any time) of an individual; or (ii) an individual’s expressed wishes about the future provision of health services to him or her; or any other Personal Information about you when a Health Service Provider collects it.
“A Health Service Provider” is an organisation that provides a health service and holds Health Information is covered by the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), even if they’re a small business or providing a health service is not their primary activity. HSM is a health service provider because it provides the HSM Health Coaching service.
“Sensitive Information” is any Health or genetic information, information or opinion about an identified Member’s racial or ethnic origin; political opinions; membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, trade union, professional or trade association membership; sexual preferences or practices or criminal record.
Personal Information that Hello Sunday Morning Health Coaching collects and holds
During the course of your interactions with the HSM Health Coaching Service we are likely to collect a range of Personal Information about you from you. We may collect your name, date of birth, contact details, including address at the time of interaction, emergency contacts, details of any health practitioner that refers you to us, your history of alcohol use, your current use of alcohol, treatment and advice you have been given, and other information relevant to your participation in our services.
Information we collect about you is generally considered Sensitive Information (specifically Health Information) within the meaning of privacy laws.
How does the HSM Health Coaching Service collect and hold your Personal Information?
The HSM Health Coaching Service will generally collect your Personal Information directly from you.
All information you provide as part of your engagement in HSM Health Coaching will be recorded in writing and stored electronically in accordance with Australian privacy principles applicable to health information. In some instances, such as where we have to arrange for continuity of your care, it may be necessary to collect from or disclose information about you to another person such as a health practitioner to provide care.
Each time you interact with HSM’s Health Coaching Service new information may be added to your record.
Giving us Personal Information is voluntary but if such information is not provided, the HSM Health Coaching Service will be limited in the assistance we can give as it is based upon what you tell us.
How does the HSM Health Coaching Service protect your information
Your Personal Information is held in HSM’s password-protected computer systems and in access controlled premises. We maintain strict policies regarding who has the authority to access your Personal Information. All HSM staff are bound by a formal code of conduct. We educate and supervise staff about the requirements to handle information in accordance with this Privacy Statement and privacy laws, and with respect and care.
HSM Health Coaching uses and implements professional and industry standards for the security and protection of information collected. For example, HSM Health Coaching uses standard Secure Socket Layer encryption that encodes the conversation transcripts during transmission. All transcripts are maintained on secure services for a period of time, as defined by relevant laws.
We take all reasonable steps to hold information securely in electronic or physical form. We also store information in access controlled premises and in electronic databases requiring logins and passwords.
You should sign out or close your browser once you have finished using the Health Coaching Service. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence.
Exceptions to Confidentiality
We collect, hold, and use your Personal Information for the purpose of assisting us to provide to you the HSM Health Coaching Service available at Hello Sunday Morning. This may include screening assessment, service provision, and service evaluation, as well as for reference by Hello Sunday Morning Health Coaches. This information is held on a confidential basis, however several exceptions to this requirement apply, including:
- All HSM coaches receive supervision from an Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registered psychologist Supervisor. By accessing HSM services you will accept that in order to obtain the services, you are providing consent to any discussion about your case that needs to occur between an HSM Health Coach and their supervisor.
- We may disclose your Personal Information if we believe disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious threat to the life, health or safety of any individual (you or someone else), or to public health or safety.
- We may also use or disclose your Personal Information for other purposes required for the administration, management and operation of the HSM Health Coaching Service, including:
- managing, monitoring, planning and evaluating our services (including for teaching and training purposes;
- accreditation, safety and quality assurance and improvement activities;
- testing and maintenance of information technology systems;
- risk management activities (including communicating with our insurers and legal representatives);
- responding to complaints or inquiries about our activities and services;
- obtaining advice from consultants and professional advisers;
- responding to subpoenas, other legal orders and reporting obligations (including reporting to Child Protection Authorities or Police in situations where someone is judged to be at risk of self-harm, or of harming others). HSM Health Coaches are also obliged to report to Police information obtained about the commission or suspected commission of a criminal act;
- to HSM’s accountants, funders, grant providers, financial advisors and legal advisors for the purposes of maintaining the provision of the HSM Health Coaching Services and HSM’s business generally;
- to HSM’s academic partners and/or academic publications for the purposes of publishing research
- to fulfil our funding and regulatory requirements with Commonwealth and State government agencies
In certain circumstances, your Personal Information may be used or disclosed for research, or for the compilation or analysis of statistics, relevant to public health or safety. Use of information in this way is strictly limited under privacy laws and generally requires approval of an ethics committee and in certain circumstances may require your express consent.
Where information is disclosed or published for research or scholarly purposes, all reasonable efforts will be made to de-identify the information. If used for research and publication purposes, your information will be analysed in a non-identifiable form and dissemination of the results will not contain material capable of identifying you.
We do not sell your Personal Information to third parties and we will endeavour, where possible, to only release information about you in de-identified form.
How can clients of the HSM Health Coaching Service access or amend their Personal Information?

HSM endeavours to ensure that the information we hold about you is accurate, up-to-date and complete. You can help us to achieve this by letting us know if your personal details change (for example, your contact details). If you consider any Personal Information we hold about you is not accurate, you may also request correction of that information.
Can I ask for my Personal Information to be deleted?
You may request your Personal Information to be deleted and we will do so except where Australian law requires us to retain it. For example, all communications with HSM health coaches are considered to be health records and as such will usually be securely retained for a minimum of seven years from the last interaction with you.
